Online content is one of the touchstones of good marketing, and we’ll tell you why. Regardless of the product or service you’re selling, you first need to make your business known to potential customers. And what do these people do? They Google a topic they’re interested in, and by providing relevant content, you automatically make yourself known to them.
So, in this blog, I’ll talk about how you can create awesome blog content, regardless of the topic, both for SEO and for your future customers!
1. Pictures, not words.
Yes, a blog is about writing a lot of words. But you need to adapt your content to your target audience. As it happens, we live in a society with a remarkably short attention span, so using big chunks of text is usually going to lose them pretty fast.
So, whenever you can say it with a visual, rather than a sentence, take our advice and go with the visual.
Most people are visually stimulated and are more likely to react to a picture than a paragraph.
3. Let the Trending page be your ally.
Most social media platforms have a “Trending” page, which a smart marketer will use to their advantage. You want to relate to and talk about relevant, current issues (though we suggest steering clear of political and religious matters, to avoid alienating customers!). This will get your content more views, and also mark you out to your followers as a well-informed and relevant business.
4. Identify your target audience.
A lot has been said about target audience, but really, you can’t stress its importance enough. You want to take the time to figure out who you’re talking to, so that you know how to talk. Are you talking to teens or seniors? Because the tone will be very different.
Are you targeting female followers, or males? Career-oriented, or folks looking for fun? All of these details can help you structure the perfect social media marketing approach.
2. You also want a lot of pictures to break up big chunks of text.
We’re not saying that you shouldn’t include a lot of content in your blog. Quite the contrary, in fact. A good blog should offer some information, so that the would-be client feels satisfied and informed after reading it.
However, you don’t want to tire out your audience, so make sure you use plenty of relevant pictures to break up big blocks of text, and make your content more easily digested.
3. Regularly update old information.
There’s no reason why a blog post from three years ago can’t work now, provided that it’s tweaked and updated to reflect the present. One of the biggest mistakes website owners make is abandoning old content, when in fact, it could still prove useful.
So, our advice is, regularly look back through old content, updating any irrelevant paragraphs, or adding new info where necessary. You also want to keep an eye on the ever-changing SEO blog guidelines, to make sure your content is SEO-friendly, and so isn’t blocking you from getting discovered.
4. Take the time to choose the right keywords.
So maybe you don’t get how keywords work. Well, we’d get on that immediately, if we were you, because keywords play such an important role in SEO and marketing. Keywords can be a make-or-break deal for your blog, so you want to make sure you choose the most relevant ones for your business.
Want a pro tip? Make sure you don’t spam your blog posts with keywords. They’ll sound weird and fake, and that’ll have the opposite effect on your business.
5. Use subheadings, bullet points, lists, and so on.
All of the above tricks make your content more accessible and easier to read. They also make your entire blog prettier, so pay attention to how you structure your content, in order to be both relevant and appealing to your audience.
